Armstrong’s Special Operations Division is trained to manage large scale events utilizing Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) protocols and the Incident Command System (ICS). Armstrong Ambulance’s Special Operations Division is prepared to respond, at a moments notice, to unusual events. Many facilities we contract with rely on Armstrong’s Special Operations to facilitate medical coverage during an MCI.
Armstrong’s Special Operations also provides contracted medical coverage at large scale special events such as Boston College Football, Boston College Campus Coverage, Boston University Campus Coverage, Northeastern University Sporting Events, Hanscom Air Force Base and several medical facilities within the Metro Boston Area. In addition to these major contracted events, Armstrong is the provider to many other municipal celebrations and gatherings which require medical assessment, treatment and transport.
Armstrong’s Special Operations Division maintains specialized equipment, capable of responding to large scale medical emergencies. The team has at its disposal Mass Casualty Units, power generators, portable communications equipment, shelter systems, cool misting stations, Pulse Carbon Monoxide Oximetry and a variety of support vehicles.
The Special Operations Division operates Defibrillator Bicycle Units at various events throughout the year. EMS bike teams are able to maneuver through congested areas and crowds, reaching patients quickly and delivering initial care more rapidly than would be possible with traditional ambulances.
