ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT DIVISIONArmstrong Ambulance Service has been providing both emergent and non-emergency ALS services to various municipalities, hospitals, and other medical facilities since 1984. As one of the first private ambulance services in Massachusetts to advance to the ALS level, we have always believed in hiring the best Paramedic candidates possible and provide them with the latest in equipment and technology. Through this practice we are able to provide the highest quality of care possible to our ALS patients. Armstrong currently maintains a fleet of 15 ALS vehicles.
ALS - 911 Municipal CoverageWe currently operate three non-transporting paramedic units, each staffed with (2) MA State Certified Paramedics. Each of these units are equipped with (2) complete sets of ALS equipment for quick turn around times and or in the event there are multiple patients at any one scene. Our 911 non-transport units respond to more than 6500 calls annually.
ALS - Inter-facility Transfer ProgramArmstrong has been providing ALS Inter-facility
and Intra-campus transports to various hospitals and health care facilities
since the inception of our ALS program. These transports typically originate
in the emergency rooms and or intensive care units. Patients transported
under this level of care require numerous medical equipment and training
beyond the standard blue print of the Paramedic program. Paramedic employees
receive additional training to meet the needs of these transfers. Our
ALS Inter-facility transfer program provides service to the majority
of hospitals in and around the Boston areas. ALS EquipmentTechnological advances made within Armstrong's Advanced Life Support Services are of particular notice. The company's standard of patient care has been greatly improved through the purchase and implementation of the following equipment on each of our ALS Inter-facility ambulances:
Zoll E Series Monitor - Defibrillator / Pacer

In
addition to our non-transport units, we also operate ALS transporting
ambulances for 911 municipal coverage. These units provide primary 911
ambulance coverage to the City of Medford. In addition to numerous other
back-up ambulances, Armstrong responds to more than 5700 emergency requests
annually within the City of Medford. Due to the large volume of responses,
it is not uncommon to have anywhere from 3 to 12 ambulances responding
or transporting patients within a sixty minute interval.
